VILLANOVA, Pa. — Villanova University junior guard
Jasmine Bascoe has been named to the 2027 Nancy Lieberman Award Preseason Watch List, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The 20-player watch list recognizes the top point guards in NCAA Division I women's basketball. The award, now in its 28th year, honors the nation's top point guard.
Bascoe enters her junior season following another standout campaign in 2025-26. The Milton, Ontario, native earned unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honors for the second consecutive season after averaging 18.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while recording 158 assists and 65 steals in 33 games. She led the BIG EAST in scoring and assists, establishing herself as one of the conference's premier offensive playmakers.
A consistent scoring threat, Bascoe reached double figures in 31 games last season, including 16 performances of 20 or more points and two 30-point outings. She enters the 2026-27 campaign with 1,175 career points and 23 career games with at least 20 points through her first two collegiate seasons.
Bascoe's ability to score at all three levels while creating opportunities for her teammates has been a cornerstone of Villanova's backcourt. Her combination of scoring production, playmaking and experience makes her a key part of the Wildcats' plans for the upcoming season.
The Nancy Lieberman Award Preseason Watch List features 20 of the nation's top point guards. Fan voting is scheduled to begin Friday, Oct. 30, with the watch list set to be narrowed to 10 candidates in February and five finalists in March. The winner will be selected by Nancy Lieberman and the Hall of Fame's selection committee.
Bascoe and the Wildcats open the 2026-27 season looking to build on a successful campaign that saw Bascoe earn another First Team All-BIG EAST selection and Villanova finish among the conference's leading programs.
