Women's Cross Country Ready for BIG EAST Championships
Senior Sheila Reid is the two-time defending BIG EAST individual champion and leads the Wildcats into Saturday morning's race.

VILLANOVA, Pa.--Villanova is ready to run in the BIG EAST Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, where the 6K conference championship race goes off at 11:50 a.m. Live video of the race can be accessed via the link at the top of this release.

Senior Sheila Reid (Newmarket, Ont.) is a two-time BIG EAST individual champion and has helped lead Villanova to three straight team titles. Reid was the BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week on October 17 after winning the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.

Reid has won her last five races and nine of her last 11 starts dating back to the start of the 2009 season, including her individual title at the Wisconsin meet two weeks ago.

The lineup for Villanova on Saturday will include Reid, senior Bogdana Mimic (Pancevo, Serbia), sophomores Emily Lipari (Greenvale, N.Y.) and Nicky Akande (Lawrenceville, Ga.) as well as junior Summer Cook (Thornton, Colo.) and freshmen Courtney Chapman (Fayetteville, N.Y.), Stephanie Schappert (Delray Beach, Fla.) and Megan Venables (Laurel Springs, N.J.).



Entering the conference championships the Wildcats are one of four BIG EAST teams ranked in the nation's Top 10. Villanova is at No. 4, followed by Georgetown (No. 6), Providence (No. 7) and Syracuse (No. 9).
