Women's Cross Country at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

Villanova earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships at the Mid-Atlantic Regional on November 10, 2017.


Women's Cross Country -- Main Line Invitational

Villanova opened the 2017 season by winning the Main Line Invitational on September 15, 2017.

On Hutchinson: Has blossomed into one of the team's top performers and a contender on the national scene in her first two collegiate seasons ... Individual qualifier for the NCAA Championships both indoors and outdoors as a sophomore, and is now a two-time All-American, two-time BIG EAST champion, seven-time All-BIG EAST performer and four-time Penn Relays champion ... Ranks eighth on the Wildcats all-time performance list in the 1500 meters with a PR of 4:13.71 ... Competed at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland in the summer of 2016 ... Also a strong cross country runner who should be a mainstay in the team's lineup this fall ... Started to break out with big-time performances during the 2016-17 seasons and is poised to continue her development in the coming year ... One of the key Wildcats to watch in 2017-18.

International Competition: Followed up a strong freshman season of competition with a terrific summer season in 2016 ... Ran in the Victoria International Track Classic in her home province of British Columbia after the end of the collegiate season and registered a then-personal best time of 4:23.00 in the 1500 meters ... Qualified for the Canadian Championships and Rio Selection Trials, where she was the runner-up in the Junior Women's 1500 meters ... Came in second in her preliminary heat with a time of 4:34.56 and then came in second overall in the final with a nearly-identical time of 4:34.48 ... Named to the Canadian team for the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland and lowered her personal best in the 1500 meters to 4:22.88 while finishing seventh in her preliminary heat.

2017 Cross Country: Emerged as one of the top performers in a deep Villanova lineup ... One of the Wildcats scoring runners in all six meets during the season ... Named a Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection and a first team All-BIG EAST honoree ... Also was the BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week once during the year ... Top finisher on the team at both the season-opening Main Line Invitational and the Paul Short Run which followed it ... Individual winner at the Main Line meet, and her time of 16:20.5 on the three-mile course was the fifth-fastest in school history at that distance ... Finished second out of 368 runners at the Paul Short Run with a personal best time of 19:49.7 for a standard 6,000 meter course ... That time is also the fifth-fastest in the Villanova record book at that distance ... Came in second on the team and fifth overall at the BIG EAST Championships (20:38.7) to help Villanova win its record 15th conference title ... Recorded a 17th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional (20:31.8) to help Villanova finish second in the team standings and earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships ... Placed third on the team and 90th overall at the national meet (20:37.8) as the Wildcats came in 12th as a team ... Notched a seventh place finish with a time of 20:35.0 at the Penn State National Open.

2017 Outdoor: Earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 1500 meters after advancing to the NCAA Championships ... Ran a leg on all three of the Villanova relays which won Championship of America titles at the Penn Relays ... Garnered All-BIG EAST recognition in both the 1500 meters and the 4x800 meter relay ... Set personal best times in both the 800 meters and the 1500 meters during the season ... Advanced to the national semifinal round of the 1500 meters after a pair of terrific races at the NCAA East Preliminary meet ... Ranked fourth overall in the national first round heats with a then-personal best time of 4:18.48, which she lowered by nearly five seconds to post a new PR of 4:13.71 in the quarterfinal round ... Tallied a time of 4:21.01 in the semifinals at the NCAA Championships in Oregon ... Part of a 1-2 finish for the Wildcats in the 1500 meters at the BIG EAST Championships ... Was the runner-up to teammate Siofra Cleirigh Buttner in both the preliminary heats and the final ... Recorded times of 4:34.14 in the preliminaries and 4:30.11 in the final ... Anchored Villanova to a runner-up finish in the 4x800 meter relay ... Posted a split of 2:13.58 and the Wildcats finished the race in 9:04.72 ... Fulfilled a personal goal by running a leg on all three Villanova relays which combined to pull off a rare distance triple at the Penn Relays ... Led off the distance medley relay with a split of 3:21.39 over 1200 meters, with the Wildcats winning that race in 10:53.97 ... Ran the third leg of the 4x1500 meter relay with a split of 4:23.6 in a race Villanova won in 17:25.85 ... Wrapped up the incredible week by recording a split of 2:09.03 on the leadoff leg of the 4x800 meter relay, which Villanova won in 8:24.87 ... Earlier in the second recorded a runner-up finish in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:08.91 at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational ... Also placed fifth in the 1500 meters in 4:18.50 at the Florida Relays.

2017 Indoor: Qualified for the NCAA Championships in the Mile ... Recorded personal best times in the 1000 meters, the Mile and the 3000 meters during the season ... BIG EAST champion in both the 3000 meters and the distance medley relay ... Recorded a time of 4:43.07 in the Mile at the NCAA Championships and finished 14th overall in the preliminary heats ... Earned her spot at the national meet when she ran a personal best time of 4:36.16 in a runner-up finish at the UCS Invitational ... Won the 3000 meters at the BIG EAST Championships with a time of 9:19.73 ... Also anchored the distance medley relay to a winning time of 11:01.14 at the conference meet ... The time secured the DMR's spot at the NCAA meet ... Won the 3000 meters in a personal best time of 9:09.59 at the Villanova Invitational ... Opened the indoor season by finishing fourth in the 1000 meters with a personal best time of 2:48.90 at the Gotham Cup ... Runner-up in the Mile at the Columbia East-West Challenge in 4:37.63 ... Finished the indoor season ranked ninth on the all-time Villanova performance list in the Mile as well as ninth on the indoor performance list in the 3000 meters.

2016 Cross Country: Was a scoring runner for Villanova at both the NCAA Championships and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional ... Finished fifth in the team lineup at each of those meets ... Registered a time of 21:42.4 over 6000 meters and placed 40th overall at the regional meet ... Had a season-best time of 21:25.6 at the NCAA Championships ... Opened the season at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, where she psoted a time of 23:38.7.

2016 Outdoor: Was a part of the Wildcats lineup for the 4x1500 meter relay which won a Championship of America title at the Penn Relays ... Ran the third leg of the relay with a split of 4:30.2 and Villanova won the title with a time of 17:44.29 ... Earned All-BIG EAST honors as part of the 4x800 meter relay which finished third in 8:56.05 ... Ran the leadoff leg of that relay and also scored individually at the BIG EAST Championships in the 1500 meters ... Posted times of 4:27.48 in the preliminary heats and 4:35.50 in the final ... Finished third overall in the preliminary round and was sixth in the final ... Competed in both the 800 meters and the 1500 meters earlier in the outdoor season ... Began the outdoor campaign with a runner-up finish and a season-best time of 4:25.43 in the 1500 meters, in addition to notching a fifth place finish in the 800 meters (2:17.10) at the Penn Challenge ... Competed in the championship section of both events at the Colonial Relays, finishing seventh in the 1500 meters (4:27.53) and 15th with a season-best time of 2:14.46 in the 800 meters ... Came in sixth in the 800 meters (2:17.03) at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational and was 15th in the elite section of the 1500 meters (4:30.22) at the Larry Ellis Invitational.

2016 Indoor: Earned All-BIG EAST honors individually in the Mile and also as the anchor of the 4x800 meter relay at the BIG EAST Championships ... Posted a time of 4:50.02 in the Mile to finish in third place ... Anchored the 4x800 relay to a third place finish with a time of 9:03.36 ... Posted a personal best time of 4:44.68 in the Mile at the FastTrack National Invite, where she came in fifth in the invitational section of the race in her final tuneup prior to the conference meet ... Opened the season by recording a personal best time of 2:52.02 in the 1000 meters, which was good for a fourth place finish at the Great Dane Classic ... Came in 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.64 at the Penn State National.

2015 Cross Country: Emerged as a steady performer during the season and was a part of the Villanova lineup for all three postseason meets ... Was the fourth scoring runner for the Wildcats at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, where she came in 38th overall out of 200 runners with a time of 22:02.8 over 6,000 meters ... Posted a season best time of 21:17.2 at the BIG EAST Championships, where she came in 38th overall and was the team's seventh runner ... Recorded a time of 22:18.9 and placed 240th at the NCAA Championships ... Placed fourth on the team and 159th overall at the Pre-NCAA Meet with a time of 21:29.8 ... Ran as part of the Villanova lineup for the first time at the Princeton Interregional Meet, where she was sixth on the team and 43rd overall with a time of 22:00.2 ... Made her collegiate debut as an unattached runner at the Main Line Invitational ... Finished in 24th place out of 75 runners with a time of 17:48 over three miles.

Was the British Columbia Athletics 1500 meters champion in 2013 ... Came in third at the Canadian Youth Championships in the 3000 meters in 2014 and also finished fourth in the 1500 meters at the Canadian Junior Championships that year ... Runner-up in the 1500 meters at the Canadian Junior Championships in 2015 ... Placed sixth at the 2014 Canadian Junior Cross Country Championships ... Competed for Canada at the 2015 Pan American Junior Cross Country Championships ... Canada won the championship and she was the third scorer on the team ... Member of the 2015 Canadian Junior Team at the World Cross Country Championships in China ... Named the 2012 British Columbia Athletics Midget 15 Cross Country Runner of the Year ... Also was the 2015 British Columbia Athletics Youth Cross Country Runner of the Year ... Earned the Frank Reynolds Leadership Award in both 2013-14 and 2014-15.

Sentinel Secondary School: Competed in track & field and cross country for five years, and was also a midfielder on the soccer team for three years ... Named her school's Female Athlete of the Year five straight years from grades eight through 12 ... Was the British Columbia high school 1500 meters champion in 2015 and the 3000 meters champion in 2014 ... Also won the 2012 individual cross country title and was runner-up in 2014 ... School record holder in the 800 meters, the 1500 meters and the 3000 meters ... Named to the Academic Honour Roll all five years of high school ... Was presented with the Ted Lelly Memorial Award for academic and athletic achievement.

Mother was a collegiate swimmer at Simon Fraser ... Hobbies include playing golf, soccer and squash ... Chose to attend Villanova for its strong academics and the track & field program's outstanding reputation of developing female middle distance runners ... Enrolled in the Villanova School of Business and is an Accounting major with a minor in Business Law.
