Women's Cross Country at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

Villanova earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships at the Mid-Atlantic Regional on November 10, 2017.

On Ryan: Newcomer to the Wildcats in 2017-18 who will compete in the middle distance events and cross country ... Has a wealth of potential and is capable of making an impact on the team as she gains collegiate experience ... 2017 Cross Country: Had a successful collegiate debut and emerged as a key contributor in a deep Villanova lineup by the end of the season ... Earned Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors as well as first team All-BIG EAST accolades ... Was the third scoring runner for the Wildcats at the BIG EAST Championships ... Came in sixth overall with a time of 20:44.1 over 6,000 meters and helped Villanova win its record 15th conference title ... Placed fourth on the team and 15th overall at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional with a time of 20:30.6 to help the Wildcats earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships ... Finished fifth on the team and 127th overall at the national meet (20:56.8) ... Made her official collegiate debut at the Penn State National Open, where she notched a 19th place finish with a time of 20:53.5 ... Was an unattached runner at both the Main Line Invitational and in the open race at the Paul Short Run ... Finished third in the field at the Main Line meet with a time of 16:45.9 over three miles ... Also came in third out of more than 250 runners in her race at the Paul Short Run with a 6K time of 20:11.9.

Geelong Grammar School:
 Competed for the cross country and track & field teams ... Captain of both squads in 2016 ... Earned Full Colours for both cross country and track & field in 2015 and 2016 ... Tallied 11 individual wins in cross country in years 11 and 12, and four individual wins in track & field ... Winner of the 2016 Craig Mottram Award for outstanding commitment and/or performance ... Team Victoria country captain in 2016 ... Holds the Open Girls records in the 1500 meters (4:26.60), the 3000 meters (9:21.21) and the 4x800 meter relay (10:52.00), as well as the Under 17 Girls 4x400 meter relay record (4:36.90).

Club Track Achievements: Competed for Athletics Essendon ... Holds the U20 records in 1500 meters (4:20.99) and the 3000 meters (9:21.21), and was the winner of the Best Junior Athlete award in 2016.

Personal: Born 3/15/98 in Melbourne, Australia ... Younger of two daughters of Gregory and Leanne Ryan ... Has an older sister, Jade (23) ... Hobbies include photography, skiing, playing basketball and tennis, and shopping ... Was drawn to the Villanova program for several reasons, including the coaching staff's experience working with athletes at the international level and the success of recent Australian athletes who have run for the Wildcats ... Also cited her comfort level with the team and the academic reputation of the Villanova School of Business as factors for choosing Villanova ... Enrolled in the Villanova School of Business and plans to major in International Business.
