Eight Wildcats on MAAC Academic Honor Roll

EDSON, N.J. - Eight members of the Villanova University women's water polo team earned spots on the 2005 New York Lottery Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll.

Aimee Corsiglia (Mountain View, Calif.), a Marketing/International Business major; Danielle Hanson (Winter Springs, Fl.), an Engineering major; Ellen Howe (San Diego, Calif.), a Theology and Communications double major; Sarah Oberhauser (Saratoga, Calif.), a Sociology major; Kim Pare (Grand Rapids, Mich.), a Communications major; Brynn Rooney (Downers Grove, Ill.), a Biology major; Taylor Schrang (Bellevue, Wash.), a Communications major; and Kate Spaveri (Avon, Conn.), a Nursing major all earned recognition from the conference for their excellence in the classroom.

Marist College headed the list of honored student-athletes with 111, followed by Iona College with 98 and Manhattan College with 95. The rest of the list was as follows: Siena College 79, Loyola College 68, Niagara University 66, Canisius College 61, Rider University 60, Saint Peter's College 46 and Fairfield University 41. Among the associate members, La Salle University, which competed in the MAAC Football League, had the most with 13.

To be eligible for the New York Lottery MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 25 sports that the conference sponsors.
