Water Polo's Carrie Boyle Named First Team All-Southern Division

VILLANOVA, PA - On May 4, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced the 2001 All-Southern Division first and second team selections. Listed among the honorees was Villanova senior Carrie Boyle (Redlands, CA/Redlands), who was named to the first team after posting 74 goals and 34 assists in leading the Wildcats to a 7-17 overall record.

Boyle excelled in both ends of the pool in 2001. In addition to her outstanding offensive play, Boyle was also a leader defensively. The senior recorded a team high with 44 steals. Boyle tallied 144 shots and 63 kick outs drawn as well.

With her first goal in 2001, Boyle tallied her 225th career goal, breaking the Villanova career goals mark previously held by 2000 Villanova graduate Brigitte Bayster. She also holds career marks for shots, 519, and kick outs drawn with 195. Boyle will graduate in May of 2001 with 298 goals, 135 assists, 519 shots, 193 steals, and 195 kick outs drawn.
