Boyle Named to All-Tournament Second Team at Easterns

Villanova, Pa.--- Villanova University water polo sophomore Carrie Boyle recently received All-Tournament second team honors for her outstanding play at the Eastern Water Polo Championships on April 23-25, at Harvard University. The Wildcats finished in fifth place at Easterns with a 3-2 record, and ended the 1999 season with a 23-8 overall record.

Boyle was an offensive force throughout the Eastern Championships, as she twice scored three goals in a match. Her first three goal performance came in an 8-7 loss to Harvard on Saturday, April 24, and the second came in a 12-7 win versus Iona on Sunday, April 25.

Boyle finished the 1999 season first on the Villanova team in goals with 80 and second in assists with 30. She also recorded 45 steals and 43 ejections drawn on the season. A second-year two-meter offensive player/driver for first-year head coach Allyson Gillespie, Boyle is a co-captain for the Wildcats. She hails from Redlands, Calif., where she attended Redlands High School.
