Hannah Ishida collects First Team All-MAAC accolades

April 27, 2012

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced today that Hannah Ishida has been named to the 2012 All-MAAC First Team as voted by the league's head coaches.

Ishida has started in all 27 games this season. The junior leads the team with 108 shots heading into the MAAC tournament and ranks among the top-five in goals (28) and assists (15). Her 43 points that were amassed in the regular-season is third best on the squad. This figure marks as an improvement from her point total last year when she posted 30 to her credit.

The highly talented center has contributed vitally to the overall ejection drawn production this season. Out of the 163 that the team tabbed, she was responsible for 64 of them. Ishida had eight ejections drawn versus Notre Dame on March 10th, which was one short of tying the school-record with most ejections drawn in a single game. Ellen Howe recorded nine against Sonoma State in 2005.

She has established a position in the top-30 in goals per game (1.04) among MAAC schools thus far and joins fellow teammates Elizabeth Clarke, Julia Penkal and Callan Edwards on the list.

The last Villanova water polo player to grab First-Team All-MAAC honors was Carla Martinez back in 2008.

The Honolulu, Hawaii native was also recognized for her excellent academic performance earlier as she earned a spot on the MAAC All-Academic Team. She garnered this award last year in 2011 as well.

Ishida was honored as an All-MAAC First Team and MAAC All-Academic Team selection this evening at the awards banquet that began at 7:00 p.m.
