VILLANOVA, PA. - At the CWPA's annual banquet on Friday night, Villanova's Kim Pare (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) was named to the Southern Division First Team, and Ellen Howe (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) was selected to the Second Team. The Wildcats won two out of three at the Eastern Championships, finishing in ninth place, the 'Cats best finish in four years.

Pare, a sophomore driver, was the dominant force in VU's offense throughout the season. She has played in all 28 games, scoring a team high 72 goals on 158 shots, to go along with 21 assists, 49 steals and 36 ejections drawn. Pare was recognized earlier this season as the Southern Division Player of the Week on Mar. 11.

Howe, who has played utility during her junior campaign, led the 'Cats with 69 ejections drawn and 44 assists. She was second in goals with 45 and shots with 107, and also chipped in 26 steals. This marks the second consecutive year that Howe has been chosen for the All-CWPA Southern Division Second Team, while it is the first such honor of Pare's career.

The tandem was instrumental in Villanova's performance at the Eastern Championships, combining for 14 goals in three games.

'Nova will wind down the 2004 season on Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2. The Wildcats travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. Villanova finished in third place in the MAAC this season with a 3-2 record. The Wildcats are 11-17 overall in Paige Cull's first season as head coach.
