PHILADELPHIA -- Junior center Dominique Clark received honors from Philly SIDA and the MAAC this week, earning a spot on the Philadelphia Inquirer Women’s Academic All-Area At-Large Team, as well as being named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Berkeley, California native was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Academic All-Area Team after posting a perfect 4.0 grade point average this past fall, and lead the Wildcats with 72 goals this season. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Academic All-Area team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, a student-athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. Clark’s cumulative grade point average currently stands at 3.92. Clark has earned a 4.0 grade point average in three of the last four semesters at Villanova.
The communications major with minors in political science and peace and justice was recognized as Villanova’s Student-Athlete of the Month presented by Rothman Institute for the month of March for her resounding efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
Clark was also selected as the MAAC’s Offensive Player of the Week after scoring 12 goals in just two games this past week. In the home-finale against George Washington last Thursday, Clark netted an impressive eight goals in an 11-8 win over the Colonials. The Wildcats ended their season on Saturday against nationally-ranked Wagner, and Clark led the team with four goals scored. This is Dominique’s second MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, after earning her first weekly honor on March 1.
