VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior driver Kim Pare (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. Pare had a dominant week as the Wildcats went 3-1 at the MAAC Games to sit in second place in the league.
Pare tallied 15 goals and five assists during the week. Villanova began MAAC play by winning three out of four matches at the Siena Swim Center. The wins came against St. Francis (11-0), Siena (12-8) and Iona (8-7), while the loss was a narrow 4-2 defeat to Marist. The goals scored against Siena and St. Francis are the two highest of the season for the Wildcats, while the shutout of St. Francis was the team's first of the season.
Pare was strong in all four matches, but had her best outing in the win over Siena. She scored six goals to account for half of the team's total, and also added two assists and drew seven ejections. Pare totaled five steals against both Marist and St. Francis, while she contributed five goals and two assists in the win over the Terriers as well. Pare scored four more goals and added another assist in the win over Iona.
Scoring-wise, Pare leads the team this season with 32 goals and 46 total points. Her 15 goals in the last four matches were nearly more than the 17 goals she scored in the team's first 11 matches. Pare also leads the team with 24 steals and 58 ejections drawn.
