Villanova Women's Water Polo Ranked No. 18 in the Nation

Villanova, Pa.--- In the latest United States Water Polo collegiate women's water polo poll released on Wednesday, March 24, the Villanova University women's water polo team was ranked No. 18 in the nation. The Wildcats remain at No. 18 from last week, a spot that they have maintained for the greater part of the 1999 season.

Villanova, under the direction of first year head coach Allyson Gillespie, currently stands at 13-5 on the season. After beginning the season 3-2, the Cats have gone 10-3 over the next 13 games. They had their longest winning streak of seven games between March 1-13.

Villanova is led by junior Brigitte Bayster and sophomore Carrie Boyle. Bayster leads the team with 45 assists and 85 steals, and ranks second on the team in goals with 43. Boyle leads the team in scoring with 52 goals, having scored 14 in the past three matches combined.

The Wildcats will look to keep up its outstanding play this weekend, traveling to West Chester, Pa., for the CWPA Tournament on March 27-28.
