Water Polo Drops Two Matches at Eastern Championships
April 27, 2002
Princeton, N.J. - On Saturday, April 27, the Villanova Wildcats dropped two matches at the Eastern Championships. The 'Cats fell to top seeded Michigan 12-4 in the first match of the day before dropping a 12-3 contest to George Washington. Villanova had four different players tally goals but it was not enough to overcome a strong Michigan squad in Villanova's first game of the Eastern Championships. The Wildcats (7-21 overall) trailed 5-2 heading into halftime until the Wolverines used a 5-1 third quarter run to take a commanding 10-3 lead and controlled the fourth quarter en route to the 12-4 victory. In the loss, Janine Kusza, Chesed Ceniseroz, Aimee Corsiglia and Ellen Howe each tallied goals for the 'Cats. Senior goalie Carly Sproul made six saves in the net. In the Wildcats second match on the afternoon, the 'Cats dropped a 12-3 contest to George Washington. In the loss, Ceniseroz, Howe and senior Erin Agee each tallied one goal apiece.
Villanova will return tomorrow morning when they battle Iona. Game time is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
