April 20, 2002
VILLANOVA, Pa. --- On the second day of the Southern Championships held at the Villanova swim center on Saturday, April 20, the Villanova women's water polo team used a total team effort to cruise past Washington & Jefferson College, 18-5, and advance to tonight's 9:20 p.m. match versus Slippery Rock. Villanova's Erin Agee got the 'Cats on the scoreboard first when she tallied her first goal of the afternoon just 30 seconds into the game. The senior tri-captain would continue her torrid pace netting the next two goals of the match to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead before a W & J timeout. Freshmen Ellen Howe and Chesed Ceniseroz each added a goal to give Villanova a 5-0 lead after the first quarter. The Wildcats continued to pour in on to open up second quarter play as Agee tallied her fourth and fifth goals of the match to extend the Wildcats lead to seven. From that point on, six different Wildcats would score for Villanova as they would eventually cruise to the 18-4 victory. In the match, Agee led Villanova with five goals while sophomores Katherine Kidde, Megan Leitch, Whitney Mabry and Ceniseroz each added two goals apiece.
