VILLANOVA, Pa. - Junior center Dominique Clark could not be stopped in Villanova's home finale, recording a career-high eight goals in a 11-8 Villanova victory over George Washington on Thursday night at the Villanova Swim Complex.
George Washington connected on a goal 1:57 into the contest to take the first lead of the contest, but Clark netted her first goal just under two minutes later to knot the score at 1-1. The Berkeley, California native registered Villanova's first four goals of the contest, as the Wildcats took their first lead of the game with 4:54 into the second quarter.
Villanova expanded its lead with Louwers' goal coming with 2:24 left until halftime, but the Colonials struck just 15 seconds later to cut the Wildcat advantage to 5-4. Stenmoen added a score with just 49 seconds, as Villanova took a 6-4 advantage into the break.
Clark notched her fifth goal of the contest to start the scoring in the second half as Villanova took a 7-5 lead with 4:29 left in the quarter. The Colonials battled, but the junior added two more goals in the quarter, as the Wildcats took a 9-7 advantage into the final quarter.
Gerrity found the back of the net to give Villanova a 10-7 lead early in the fourth, but George Washington would cut the Wildcat lead back to two with 3:02 in the contest. Clark commenced her scoring by adding an insurance goal with 1:32 left, as Villanova won its home finale and final non-conference bout.
Villanova will wrap up its season against nationally-ranked Wagner on Saturday in New Rochelle, New York.
