STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Villanova women's water polo team (10-16, 6-5 MAAC) swept competition Saturday with a 10-6 win over VMI and an 11-7 victory over St. Francis.

Game 1: Villanova 10, VMI 6
Callan Edwards scored four goals and Sarina Shibata recorded a hat trick as the Wildcats defeated VMI. The Keydets led for most of the game, taking a 6-5 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats were able to harness the momentum and scored five goals in the last period. Sarah Kesack scored twice for Villanova, while Mary Riley and Naomi Ng also had goals.

Julie Conrath made 11 saves and two steals in goal.

Game 2: Villanova 11, St. Francis 7
Sarina Shibata added to her goal total as she scored four times against the Terriors. Robyn Bastian and Sheila Gerrity each tallied two while Sarah Kesack, Mary Riley and Callan Edwards also scored for the Wildcats.

Villanova and St. Francis went into halftime tied 3-3 before the Wildcats took a 7-6 lead in the third.

 

 

Julie Conrath made 16 saves in goal and recorded two steals and an assist.

The Wildcats finish the regular season tomorrow against Marist at noon and Wagner at 4 p.m. in Brooklyn, N.Y.
