LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Wildcats were upended by Wagner this past Saturday in a contest that featured plenty of offense from the Seahawks. With the loss against their conference foe, Wagner now takes the regular-season series in a two-game sweep. VU currently holds a 7-17 overall mark and a 3-5 record in conference play.
In the first quarter, the `Cats chalked up three goals on the score sheet, but Wagner would punch in seven to take a four-goal advantage heading into the second. Another four-goal margin between the two teams in the second increased the disparity, as Villanova posted two and WC connected on six attempts. At half, Wagner led by eight tallies with the score, 13-5. VU would go scoreless in the third, while the Seahawks tacked on four more. A one-goal fourth by the Wildcats would not be enough. The final of the match was booked with the count 18-6 in favor of the Seahawks.
Callan Edwards notched two goals to lead the team. The freshman also tabbed two steals in the defeat. Junior Julia Penkal registered one goal, two assists and an ejection drawn for her three points.
