LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - A pair of wins on Sunday meant a 3-1 start to MAAC play for the Wildcats, who finished competition at the MAAC Games from the Siena Swim Center. Villanova (4-11) defeated Siena by a 12-8 score in its first match of the day and then edged Iona 8-7 later in the afternoon.

Senior driver Kim Pare (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) picked up where she left off on Saturday, scoring six goals and dishing out two assists in the win over Siena. She also drew seven ejections, and then went on to score four goals and have an assist against Iona. In four matches on the weekend, Pare totaled 14 goals, five assists, 10 steals and 12 ejections drawn.

In the win over Iona, sophomore driver Carla Martinez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) contributed two goals, while junior defender Taylor Schrang (Bellevue, Wash.) handed out two assists. Junior driver Brynn Rooney (Downers Grove, Ill.) and sophomore defender Christina Dopp (Stockton, Calif.) also netted goals against Iona.

Villanova is currently tied for second place in the MAAC standings and will host a tournament against conference foes this Saturday at the Villanova Swim Center. The tournament gets underway at 10:00 a.m. and will last throughout the day.

NOTES: On Saturday the Wildcats defeated St. Francis (N.Y.) 11-0 and lost to Marist 4-2 ... Pare scored four goals, had two assists, grabbed five steals and drew two ejections in the win over the Terriers ... She also had five steals and drew three ejections against Marist ...
