Villanova, PA - On Saturday, March 18, the Villanova Wildcat water polo team played their last two home games of the year at the Villanova Swim Center. Led by senior Carrie Boyle (Redlands, CA/Redlands) and junior Erin Agee (Houston, TX/St Agnes Academy) the Wildcats finished the day with a 1-1 record. Villanova defeated Iona by the score of 11-9 and lost to Hartwick 14-8.

In their first game against Hartwick, Villanova hung tough early. The Wildcats used two goals from Boyle to tie the game at 2-2 with 1:47 remaining in the first quarter. Villanova then fell behind 6-3 before it was Agee's turn to answer Hartwick's challenge. The junior tallied two goals in a 26 second span to narrow Hartwick's lead to 6-5. Hartwick then took a 7-5 lead before Boyle and Agee each tallied to tie the game at 7-7. Two goals by Hartwick in less than a minute pushed the lead to 9-7, a lead Villanova could not overcome the rest of the game. The 'Cats got one more goal from Boyle midway through the third quarter, but from that point on it was all Hartwick.

Game two was much better as Villanova jumped out to an early 4-2 lead behind one goal from Jennifer Rosick (Pringle, PA/Wyoming Valley West) and Boyle, and two from Kelly Ganz (Long Beach, CA/Woodrow Wilson). The Wildcats pushed the lead to 7-2 after Boyle, Agee, and Maria Greshock (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) each scored in less than one minute and 33 seconds. With the lead secured Villanova rolled to their fourth victory of the season 11-9. Six different Wildcats scored in the game, including Boyle, three goals, Agee, three goals, Greshock, one goal, Ganz, one goal, Whitney Mabry (Houston, TX/St Agnes Academy), one goal, and Rosick, two goals.

With the win and loss Villanova's record now stands at 4-14 overall. The Wildcats will be back in action on March 24 and 25 when they travel to Bucknell to participate in the second CWPA conference weekend of the year.
