PRINCETON, N.J. - In its first tournament action of the season, Villanova (0-2) was defeated 14-2 by Maryland on Sunday at the Princeton Invitational. The Wildcats played in just one match this weekend and next head to a tournament hosted by Maryland this coming weekend.

In Sunday's game, the Terrapins quickly built a lead with seven goals in the first quarter and six in the second period. Maryland led 13-1 at halftime before each team tallied one goal in the second half, both in the fourth quarter.

Villanova received its scoring from a pair of freshmen drivers in Kathleen Maloney (Chicago, Ill.) and Jennifer Lynch (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.). The pair equaled their production from Friday night's season opener against George Washington, when Maloney led the team with eight shots taken.

At next weekend's Maryland Invitational, the Wildcats will first face No. 19 Bucknell and then the host Terrapins on Saturday and then will take on George Washington in a single match played on Sunday.
