San Diego, CA - On Thursday, March 8, the Villanova Wildcat water polo team continued their spring break action in sunny San Diego, California as they did battle with the #12 UC-San Diego Tritons. Despite playing their best all-around game of the season, Villanova fell to the Tritons 17-6.

For Villanova, senior driver Carrie Boyle (Redlands, CA/Redlands) was the leader, tallying three of Villanova's six goals. Other goal scorers for Villanova included Alisa Demmin (Fullerton, Calif./Rosary), Maria Greshock (Harleysville, PA/Souderton), and Katherine Kaufold (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley). Also playing well for Villanova was Whitney Mabry (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy). Mabry, who did not score against UCSD, played her best all-around game to date, creating several turnovers and scoring opportunities.

For the Tritons, Emma Kudritzki tallied five goals to lead UCSD. Joining Kudritzki on offense were Erin Welsh and Samara Silverman. The duo tallied three goals a piece. With the victory, UCSD improves to 8-6 overall, while Villanova falls to 2-9.

The Wildcats will be back in action on March 9 at 2:00 PM when they battle perennial power Hawaii at Redlands.
