UC-San Diego Drops Wildcats to 4-3
March 2, 2000 San Diego, Calif.--- On March 2, in San Diego, Calif., the Villanova University women's water polo team lost to the University of California San Diego, 11-5, to fall to 4-3 overall on the season. The Tritons of UC-San Diego, ranked No. 13 in the nation, improved to 5-9 on the year. The Wildcats fell behind early, as they found themselves down 3-1 after the first period, and 6-1 at intermission. Villanova tried to rally in the third, matching the Tritons with two goals, but San Diego pulled away in the fourth period surging to the 11-5 win. Brigitte Bayster and Carrie Boyle each scored two goals to lead the Wildcat offense, while Janine Kusza added one. For the Tritons, Emma Kudritzki and Hilary Smith both scored three times. In net for Villanova, Carly Sproul saved seven shots and added three steals.
The Wildcats will get back into action on March 4, traveling to Redlands.
