Villanova, Pa. - On Sunday, March 4, the Villanova Wildcat water polo team finished play in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's opening conference weekend. In their final game of four, the Wildcats were defeated by Mid-Atlantic Conference foe George Washington, 17-8. With the loss, Villanova drops to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the Mid-Atlantic Conference. For the weekend, the 'Cats ended up 2-2 with victories over Salem International, 16-12, and Bucknell, 12-11 in sudden death, and losses to Princeton, 16-7, and GW.

Against George Washington, Villanova was led by senior Carrie Boyle (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) and freshman Whitney Mabry (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy). Boyle and Mabry each tallied twice. Joining the duo on offense was Erin Agee (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy), Kelly Ganz (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson), Jennifer Rosick (Pringle, Pa./Wyoming Valley West), and Alisa Demmin (Fullerton, Calif./Rosary). Each player scored once to round out the scoring for Villanova.

Villanova will be back in action on Thursday when they do battle with the University of California-San Diego. UC-San Diego is currently ranked 12th in the nation. They will square of at 4:00 p.m. at UC-San Diego.
