Princeton, N.J. - On Thursday, Feb. 28, the Villanova women's water polo team traveled to Princeton, N.J. where they were defeated by a final score of 13-5. With the loss, the Wildcats drop to an overall 0-4 on the season while the #16 ranked Tigers improve to a perfect 5-0.

The Wildcats took a 2-1 lead in the first quarter when freshmen Chesed Ceniseroz (Whittier, Calif./Whittier) found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal at the 3:10 mark. The Tigers evened the score thirty seconds later and would take a one goal advantage with 2:00 minutes remaining when Princeton's Adele McCarthy-Beauvais scored her third straight goal of the evening.

Villanova pulled even 1:50 into the second quarter off of a penalty shot scored by freshmen Ellen Howe (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) but that is the closest the Wildcats would get. Princeton went on to score 10 straight goals to take a commanding 13-3 lead en route to the 13-5 victory.

In the match, the 'Cats were led by senior Erin Agee (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes) who scored two goals and added a steal. Ceniseroz and Howe were joined by fellow rookie Aimee Corsiglia with one goal a piece. In the net, senior Carly Sproul (Moraga, Calif./Miramonte) recorded seven saves and five steals in the match for the 'Cats. Princeton was led by McCarthy-Beauvais who registered seven of the Tigers' 15 goals.

Villanova will get back into action when they travel to Claremont, Calif. to participate in the Claremont Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 2 and 3. The Wildcats will return after the weekend matches on Wednesday, Mar. 6 when they take on the University of Redlands in Redland, Calif.
