CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Villanova women's water polo team (0-8) dropped three games in the CWPA/MAAC Crossover on Saturday and Sunday.
Game 1: Bucknell 8, Villanova 6
Villanova began the tournament with a close 8-7 loss to Bucknell, just a week after losing 10-7 to the Bison.
The Wildcats found themselves down by two after the first quarter, but scored three in the second to go into halftime down 4-3. After finishing the third quarter down 7-4, Villanova began pressing for a comeback, but were unable to complete it.
Goaltender Julie Conrath made five saves on 13 shots.
Game 2: George Washington 12, Villanova 8
Sarina Shibata paced the Wildcats in a 12-8 loss to the Colonials. The sophomore scored five goals on eight shots.
The teams went into halftime tied 5-5, and Villanova held an 8-7 lead going into the final period. However, the Colonials pulled away to take the game.
Game 3: Harvard 14, Villanova 7
The Crimson took a 9-2 lead into halftime and led 12-4 going into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats scored four goals in the fourth, but were unable to close the gap in scoring.
Naomi Ng recorded four goals against Harvard while Sarina Shibata, Callan Edwards and Sadie Dutcher each added one.
Maddi Moore made eight saves in goal on 22 shots from Harvard.
The Wildcats travel to California next weekend for the Cal Lutheran Invitational in Thousand Oaks, where Villanova will take on six teams.
