Villanova splits matches against Wagner and St. Francis
In the Villanova Wildcats' water polo team's final home games of the 2015 season, the team took time to honor both Callan Edwards and Sadie Dutcher to commemorate their respective collegiate careers on senior day. The team split their games, losing 15-7 to Wagner and beating St. Francis by a score of 19-7.
Wildcats Split Sunday Games vs. Marist and VMI
The Villanova water polo team competed in conference play on Sunday and lost to Marist early in the day by a score of 9-8 and beat VMI by an 11-9 mark. Both games were pretty competitive. The Wildcats' season record now stands at 16-13 (4-5 MAAC).
Water Polo Defeats No. 14 Ranked Wagner
In the second weekend loaded with conference matchups in as many weeks the Wildcats played two games on Saturday. They were beaten in the first game by Iona 14-9. In the second game the `Cats matched up against the No. 14 ranked Wagner Seahawks and defeated them by a score of 9-8. It marks the first time this season that Villanova has defeated a nationally ranked team in water polo.
Water Polo Drops Two Conference Games
After winning two games on Saturday afternoon, the Wildcats looked to repeat their success against conference opponents on Sunday with games vs. Marist and VMI. Unfortunately the results didn't match yesterday as the Wildcats dropped 10-3 to Marist and 10-6 to VMI. The Wildcats season record moves to 14-11 and they are now 2-3 in the MAAC.
Wildcats Sweep Conference Opponents St. Francis and Siena
In the first weekend of entirely conference games, the Villanova Wildcats water polo team has started off the conference season right with two victories. They did lose a conference game earlier in the season to Iona, but this is the first conference weekend. They beat St. Francis in the first game 12-8 and then followed up with another victory over Siena 12-6.
Water Polo Competes in Hartwick Invitational
In the single day tournament, the Hartwick Invitational, the Wildcats played in three separate matchups. The team played Hartwick first, followed by Brown and then finished up the evening with Connecticut College. Nova took the second two games of the day.
Villanova Beats Chapman in Final California Game
The Wildcats completed their spring break trip to California by taking on the Chapman University Panthers on Wednesday night and closed the trip on a high note, winning a close match by a score of 12-10.
Wildcats Split Games Between Occidental and Whittier
Over the Wildcats spring break, the team took on both Occidental and Whittier splitting the two games. The Wildcats won the first game, which was a 9-4 victory over Occidental. The second game was a close 13-10 loss to Whittier. Both games were played at the same facility in Whittier, Calif.
