Semrau and Nguyen Selected to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Volleyball Team
Dec. 13, 2005 Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior Adrian Semrau and senior Celine Nguyen each earned a spot on the first-ever Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Volleyball team, as voted by the sports information offices of the 28 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Nguyen earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 honors last season, in addition to being a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. The senior led the team in digs per game this year with 3.07 and had 2.27 kills per game as an outside hitter. Nguyen also totaled 27 service aces, third highest on the team. Semrau, who earned BIG EAST Academic All-Star recognition last year, was second on the team in kills per game (3.23), hitting percentage (.280), and blocks per game (0.88). The Grafton, Ohio native hit ten or more kills in 17 matches, and she set career highs in hitting percentage (.692 against Wagner) and total blocks (eight versus Delaware) this season. Joining Semrau and Nguyen on the Academic All-Area team is Emily Roth of University of the Sciences, Rachel Chizmadia from Widener, Kim Feeney and Kacie Green of Cabrini, Heidi Jutsum and Samantha Thompson of Haverford, Abby Means of La Salle, and Megan Veale of Lincoln.
