O'Brien Earns Volleyball Big East Honors
November 23, 1998 VILLANOVA, Pa. - At the Big East Championship, held at the University of Pittsburgh, Megan O'Brien was honored one last time as a Wildcat with an All-Big East second team selection. O'Brien, a senior from San Jose, Calif., was named Big East Player-of-the-Week two times and earned nine all-tournament team accolades in her four years on the Main Line.
A four-year starter for Villanova, O'Brien has battled back from two knee injuries to become one of Villanova's most powerful hitter. O'Brien's 1,378 career kills places her fourth on the schools all-time kills behind Pam Clifford who recorded 1,541 kills between 1989-92. In conference games, O'Brien finished second in the Big East in digs per game (5.20) and fourth in kills per game (4.43).
Villanova finished their season with a 12-16 overall record and 4-7 in Big East competition.
