Nov. 18, 2013
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Cara Cunningham of Robinson Secondary School is officially a member of the Villanova Wildcat volleyball team, as she signed her National Letter of Intent Friday morning. The 6'4 middle blocker is the first signing for head coach Josh Steinbach of the Villanova 2018 class.
"We are excited to have Cara join us in 2018. I think she has potential to impact our team immediately," Villanova head coach Josh Steinbach said. "She is a long agile athlete who can attack and block at a high level. She has an extremely high volleyball IQ, sees the game very well and is a great competitor. She's an excellent student and will be successful at Villanova on the court and in the classroom."
The Fairfax, Va. native has racked up an impressive resume during her four years lettering at Robinson. As a senior, she led her team with 113 blocks and was second on the team with 179 kills, garnering MVP honors of the Concord Conference 5. Helping her team go 5-1 in conference, Cunningham was named to the 6A North Region First Team.
As a junior, she was named First Team All-Concorde District and All-Region Honorable Mention. She ranked second in blocks in the Washington Post All-Met Sports Area. Cunningham was also a member of the talented Virginia Elite 17 squad coached by Andy Halaz.
