Semrau Named to Second Team All-BIG EAST
Nov. 17, 2006 Villanova, Pa. - The 2006 BIG EAST Conference Volleyball postseason award winners were announced on Thursday evening in Cincinnati, Ohio prior to the start of the conference tournament. The Villanova Wildcats had one player earn all-conference status, as Adrian Semrau was named to the second team all-BIG EAST for her tremendous 2006 season. The Wildcats ended their season with a 16-15 overall record, and a 7-7 mark in the BIG EAST. The Wildcats closed the season in a tie for eighth place in the conference to USF, but lost out on a chance to play in the conference tournament after USF won the head to head tiebreaker thanks to their 3-0 victory over the Wildcats earlier in the season. However, this season saw Semrau steadily climb many of the Villanova volleyball career and season record lists. Her 97 block assists this season are the most ever at Villanova in a single season, one better than Stacy Evans' 96 in 1996. Semrau also accumulated 137 total blocks this season, good for second in that single season category. Semrau also ranks third in blocks per game for a season after posting 1.22 blocks per game this season. But her achievements are not limited to single season accolades, she also ranks among the best in numerous career categories. She ranks fourth in career block assists (252), kills per game (3.295) and hitting percentage (.268). After totaling 45 solo blocks in her first three years on the Main Line, she registered 40 this season alone, placing her in a tie with Marissa Davidson for fourth all-time. And her 337 total blocks over her career put her in fifth place all-time in that category as well.
