VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova volleyball team has announced the signing of Krista Andersen to a National Letter of Intent. Andersen will be available to play for the Wildcats beginning in the 2009 season.

A native of Lakeland, Fla., Andersen is an outside hitter and a four-year letterwinner at Lakeland High School and plays for the Tampa United volleyball club. Standing at 6'0, Andersen was the state leader in kills per game in 2007 and is one of prepvolleyball.com's Senior Aces for 2008. She helped her team become a 6A high school regional semi-finalist and is the 2008 Polk County Player of the Year.

"We are expecting Krista to make an immediate impact on our program," head coach Josh Steinbach said. "We are excited to have her join the team. She is a great kid with a great background and excels academically. She will be an asset to our squad."

Andersen has racked up numerous accolades at Lakeland H.S. She was named to the 2008 All-Tournament Team at the Tampa Prep Invitational and was a 2007 second team all-state selection as well as a first team all-county selection. Andersen was also named to the 2007 Junior Olympics 17 American All-tournament squad.
