Owls Fly Past Wildcats
November 4, 1998 Villanova, Pa. - In a meeting between cross-town rivals, Villanova (11-13/3-4) lost their second straight match to Temple (15-8/10-4) in three game, 15-7, 15-11, 17-15. Behind a game-high .474 hitting percentage, the Owls took game one. In the second, the Owls dazed the Wildcats with seven service aces, winning the game 15-11. Not giving up, Villanova built a 11-4 lead in the third game, but back came Temple to bring the game to a 15-15 tie. Breaking the tie and winning the game for the Owls was Maria Vutskova, who's last two served ended the Cats chances for tonight. Temple was led by Alma Kovaci's 24 kills and 15 digs while Maria Vutskova tallied 13 kills and 12 digs. For the Wildcats, Megan O'Brien knocked down a team-high 16 kills and Elizabeth Jones had 18 digs. Villanova setter Cathy Arnette recorded 49 assists in the loss.
