Gabby Pethokoukis Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll for Second Time
Despite missing 13 matches, Gabby Pethokoukis is hitting a team-high .372 attack pct.

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Sophomore middle blocker Gabby Pethokoukis played arguably the best match of her career Saturday night in a thriller at Georgetown that didn't go the Wildcats way. Conversely, on Monday she was recognized for that effort and was named to the BIG EAST Volleyball Honor Roll for the second time this season.

"Gabby had a fantastic match against Georgetown and is showing herself to be a premier BIG EAST middle blocker," head coach Josh Steinbach said.

Despite the loss, Pethokoukis accumulated a match-high 24 points to go along with a career-best 19 kills, while hitting .429 and adding a personal season-high seven blocks.

Through 11 matches this season, the Western Springs, Ill. native is hitting a team-high .372 attack pct. She also ranks third on the team with 2.72 kills/set and 0.81 blocks/set.

Villanova will return to the Jake Nevin Field House for three matches this weekend that will conclude the team's home schedule. The Wildcats will dual against Creighton Friday (6 p.m.), Butler Saturday (6 p.m.) and Xavier Sunday (3 p.m.).

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Yaidy Santiago, St. John's, OH, So. Santiago helped the Red Storm to a five-set win at Creighton by recording a career-high 15 kills and 12 digs for her first career double-double. She recorded a kill while Creighton held match point and a 14-12 lead in the fifth set. St. John's tied the score and went on to win the set 17-15.

BIG EAST Rookie of the Week
Nele Barber, Marquette, OH, Fr. Barber notched at least 20 kills in a pair of four-set victories at Butler and Xavier. She averaged 5.38 kills per set in the two wins, while hitting .343. Barber had 5.44 points per set for the first-place Golden Eagles.

BIG EAST Honor Roll

Kelli Browning, Creighton, MB, Jr. Hit .400 in a 1-1 week while averaging 2.38 kills and 2.38 blocks per set. Leads the BIG EAST with 125 blocks.

Lauren Saar, Georgetown, OH, So. Had a season-high 21 kills and 14 digs in a 3-2 win over Villanova. In the fifth set, recorded five kills with zero errors and four digs.

Elizabeth Koberstein, Marquette, S, Sr. Averaged 13.25 assists and 3.75 digs in wins at Butler and Xavier. Had 58 assists in a victory over Butler.

Aubree Smith, Xavier, S, Jr. In a 1-1 week, posted two double-doubles. Almost had a triple-double with 46 assists, 22 digs and nine kills while hitting .389 in a loss to Marquette.

Gabby Pethokoukis, Villanova, OH, So. Had a career-high 19 kills and seven blocks in a 3-2 loss to Georgetown. Also hit .429, the second best mark of her career.
