September 23, 1998

Newark, Del. - Villanova entered tonight's game against Delaware looking for something to get them going. After dropping five of their last six matches, the Wildcats got that boost from sophomore Breen Eddinger, who led the Wildcats with a season high 19 kills, as Villanova defeated the Blue Hens in straight games 15-10, 15-5, 15-6.

After trailing 3-2 in the first game, the Wildcats (3-7) scored five unanswered points, and would not look back again in the match. Villanova dominated Delaware (3-10) with a .288 hitting percentage and six service aces. Senior Elizabeth Jones tallied 12 kills and 19 digs, while Megan O'Brien added 14 kills in the victory. Delaware freshman Cameo Neeman led the Blue Hens with eleven kills, while Kristen Merrill recorded 22 digs.

Villanova co-hosts the 15th Annual Asics Classic this weekend. The Wildcats will face Rice, Wagner, and St. Peter's, with Delaware State, Tulsa, Drexel, and Lafayette rounding out the tournament.
