VILLANOVA, Pa. - Freshman Krista Andersen was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

Andersen helped lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 record and tournament title at the Marriott Cavalier Invitational at Virginia over the weekend. The Wildcats earned wins over Albany, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Andersen posted double-doubles in all three matches posting better than 15 kills and digs each outing. She tallied 49 kills, four service aces, 53 digs and a block in 14 sets en route to being named MVP of the tournament.

This is the first conference honor for Andersen and the third for Villanova this season. The Wildcats open up BIG EAST Conference action on Friday hosting Cincinnati at 7 p.m. with Louisville on Sunday at 2 p.m.
