Michaela Berendt Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Freshman middle blocker Michaela Berendt has been named to the Volleyball BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performance this past week. With victories over Lehigh (3-1), George Mason (3-2) and New Hampshire (3-0), Berendt played a crucial role in helping the Wildcats record their first winning streak of the year and improve to 4-5 on the season.
The Olympia, Wash. native registered a match-high 15 kills and eight blocks, while hitting .448 against Lehigh on Tuesday. She continued the high efficiency over the weekend, hitting an impressive .478 versus George Mason, including 14 kills and two blocks.
The 6'4 middle blocker would go on to finish with nine kills (.444) in a shutout over New Hampshire and six kills at Maryland. She was named to the Maryland Invitational All-Tournament team alongside sophomore teammate, Lauren Carpenter.
Villanova returns to the court Tuesday (7 p.m.) versus Delaware for its home opener as it hosts the "Jam for Jake" event at the Jake Nevin Field House. The first 250 fans will receive free t-shirts and the Wildcats men's basketball team will be in attendance to sign autographs.
