Los Angeles, Calf. - In the morning game of the Furama Classic Villanova was in for yet another battle against Colorado State. In the first set, the Wildcats had trouble gaining momentum after leading 4-3, Colorado State scored eight unanswered points, as the Rams thrust ahead 12-3. Villanova struggled throughout and gave into their WAC opponents 15-4. Looking for answers, head coach Heather Hoehn stirred up the line up with sophomore setter Cathy Arnette who, along with the re-emergence of Elizabeth Jones, helped the Wildcats through another tough game. Villanova took a 6-4 and never looked back as the Cats went on to win their first game of the tournament, 15-11.

After an early lead slipped away from the Wildcats, Colorado State seized the moment and scored on four straight serves, uping their lead to 11-6 in the third game. Capitalizing on a few key mistakes by Villanova, the Rams took the game 15-7. Trying to muster up some energy, the Wildcats got back in the groove and took a 7-4 lead, stunning the Rams. Behind All-WAC outside hitter Catie Vaneur, CSU tied the game at seven. Battling point for point took its toll on Villanova, but the Cats stood their ground as the game was deadlocked at 14. Behind all-WAC outside hitter Catie Vagneur's service ace and game ending kill, the Rams passes Villanova 15-14.

For the Wildcats, Breen Eddinger had a career high 16 kills, while Megan O'Brien also had 16 kills and 13 digs in the losing effort. California native Elizabeth Jones tallied 10 kills and 13 digs in front of numerous family and friends that made the trip down from San Jose. The Wildcats take on the James Madison Dukes in the final game of the tournament at 5:00 pm (pst).
