VILLANOVA, Pa.-- On Aug. 7th, the 2000 Big East preseason volleyball poll and all-conference team was released. Villanova was picked by the league's 12 head coaches to finish last in the conference. The Wildcats finished last in the conference in 1999 with a 0-11 mark and 9-21 record overall.

Notre Dame (119) earned nine first place votes en route to being selected to repeat as conference champions. The Irish ended 1999 with a 20-9 overall record and 11-0 conference mark. Notre Dame is followed by defending Big East tournament champion, Georgetown (111), with three first place votes. Rounding out the top five are Connecticut (102), Rutgers (81), and Pittsburgh (77).

Villanova will look to seniors Breen Eddinger and Ruth Ann Blankenheim in 2000. Eddinger lead the Wildcats in kills with 438 and was fourth on the team in digs with 196. Blankenheim lead the team in digs with 356 and finished third in kills with 216. Head coach Heather Hoehn enters her third season on the Main Line with a two year record of 21-37.
