Josh Steinbach Named Villanova Volleyball Coach
April 26, 2007 Villanova, Pa. - Villanova University Director of Athletics Vince Nicastro today announced the hiring of Josh Steinbach as the school's head women's volleyball coach. Steinbach replaces Gilad Doron who left to become the head coach at the University of San Francisco. "Josh Steinbach brings to Villanova a terrific combination of collegiate and club level coaching experience and will provide outstanding leadership to our women's volleyball program," said Nicastro. "He is one of the bright young coaches in the game, and we are pleased to welcome Josh and his family to the Villanova family." Steinbach comes to Villanova from Wright State University where he served as an assistant coach from 2005-07. His duties at Wright State included serving as recruiting coordinator, overseeing the video breakdown of opponents and on court coaching responsibilities. "I want to thank Director of Athletics Vince Nicastro and Senior Women's Administrator Lynn Tighe for giving me the opportunity to lead the Villanova volleyball program. I had a fantastic experience during the interview process and I am looking forward to getting to know the players and athletic department staff," said Steinbach. "Villanova is rich with campus life, academic achievement and athletic accomplishments and I am honored to become a Wildcat. My family and I are excited to be coming home to Pennsylvania." Prior to his Wright State experience, Steinbach was an assistant at the University of Cincinnati from 2003-2005. He has also held assistant coaching positions at Penn State and San Diego Mesa Community College. In addition to his college coaching experience, Steinbach has also been heavily involved in the club volleyball circuit. Most recently, he was the master coach for the 18 and 17 teams of the Dayton Juniors Volleyball Club in Dayton, Ohio. Steinbach was also the head coach of Team Z Volleyball Club in Cincinnati (2003-05), the Club Director of the Lions Pride Volleyball Club in State College, Pa., (2001-03) and coach and club administrator for the Sunwest Volleyball Club in San Diego, Calif. Steinbach played collegiate volleyball at both San Diego Mesa Community College and George Mason University. After earning his Associates Degree from San Diego Mesa Community College in 1999, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Penn State University in 2002. A native of State College Pa., Steinbach and his wife Jennifer are the parents of two sons, Bennett, 8, and Carson, 3.
