VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Head coach Josh Steinbach has promoted volunteer coach Michelle Meehan to the assistant coaching position of the Villanova Women's Volleyball team. Last season Meehan joined the coaching staff as a volunteer after working two years at Salisbury University as a graduate assistant. Steinbach had this to say on Meehan's promotion: "I'm super excited to have her continue on with us. She showed a lot of promise and did a great job as volunteer. She grew a lot throughout the season and we're looking forward to getting to work this offseason."
This promotion will include taking over the role of coaching the passers and defenders. She will also be called upon for other tasks such as travel coordination, video breakdown, game planning and scouting.
"I am extremely excited to remain a part of the Villanova family," said Meehan. "I want to thank Josh Steinbach for the opportunity to continue at Villanova in my new role. During the time I worked as a volunteer, I was fortunate to learn under great coaches and work with a great group of student-athletes. I look forward to taking on the challenges of my new role and doing my part to build on the success of the volleyball program at Villanova."
Meehan helped Villanova reach the BIG EAST tournament in her first season as a volunteer. As a player, she won two conference championships and made four NCAA tournament appearances during her time at Salisbury University. As a graduate assistant, she helped Salisbury reach their conference tournament both seasons she was there.
