Villanova head volleyball coach Allison Keeley has announced the signing of Celine Nguyen to a National Letter of Intent. Nguyen is the first member of the Villanova class of 2006 and will enroll at Villanova in the fall of 2002.

A native of Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif., Nguyen is a 5'9 outside hitter who currently is a senior at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and a member of Gene's Team Club. Last season, she led her Palos Verdes team to the state Division I semifinals tallying 406 kills with a .380 hitting percentage, 487 digs, 74 aces and 58 blocks. For her efforts, she was selected to the All-Bay League first team while garnering All-CIF second-team honors.

According to Keeley, "Celine is an outstanding athlete who attacks explosively from the front row and has excellent back passing and defensive skills. In addition, she is an outstanding student and will become a wonderful addition to the Villanova community".
