Villanova Volleyball Holds On For 3-1 Win Over Towson
Nov. 11, 2003 VILLANOVA, PA. - The Villanova volleyball team pushed its win streak to eight with a 3-1 decision over Towson in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Jake Nevin Field House. The Wildcats took game one 30-21, but Towson rallied for a 30-28 win in game two before the Wildcats captured games three and four, 30-20 and 30-28. Katie Lanting paced the Wildcat offense with 22 kills, including seven in the first game. Celine Nguyen managed 13 kills to go along with her team-high 16 digs, while Dana Kabashima totaled 13 kills and eight digs. Jennifer Badran-Grycan registered 25 helpers on the night, while Jennifer Edwards added 19. The Wildcats finished the match with a .227 hitting percentage, highlighted by a .400 showing in the opening game. Villanova also posted eight total team blocks, led by Megan Abbott's two solo blocks and one block assist. For Towson (23-5), Sarah Miller set the tone with 20 kills, while April Hoffman and Christina Grempler managed 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Liz Goubeaux played strong up front with two solo blocks and four block assists.
Villanova (13-13) returns to BIG EAST action on Saturday at 2 p.m. when St. John's visits Jake Nevin Field House.
