VILLANOVA, Pa. - Following a thrilling five-game victory over Cincinnati the Villanova University volleyball team (13-8, 5-3 BIG EAST) had one of its toughest matches of the year as they took on the University of Louisville (13-4, 8-0 BIG EAST) who came in undefeated in BIG EAST action and had only given up one game in BIG EAST play.

Arguably the best team in the BIG EAST, Louisville brought with it a nine-match win streak. Villanova looked like they would be win number 10 early in the match dropping games one and two by a score of 30-20. In game numbers three and four the Wildcats showed why they think they can be one of the top teams in the conference as they handed UofL their second game loss in BIG EAST play with a 30-26 victory in game three.

The Wildcats looked like they were going to force a game five as both teams battled back-and-forth throughout the fourth game but the Cardinals would once again come out victorious 30-25.

Senior Alona Cherkez continued her bid for an All-Conference selection as she racked up match-highs 24 kills and 19 digs. Junior Dana Tartazky also chipped in a good match as she picked up 18 kills and 15 digs.

Senior Kacy Sellers was one kill shy of double-digits with nine while sophomore Chelsea Graman picked up 43 assists. Sophomore libero Amy Gulyas had 11 digs.

The Wildcats will next be in action Wednesday, October 17 as they travel into the city to take on the Temple Owls at 7 p.m.
