PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Heading into today's (Sept. 7) the Villanova University volleyball team (12-7, 4-2 BIG EAST) was on a three match BIG EAST winning streak while the University of Pittsburgh (11-8, 5-1 BIG EAST) was holding onto its own home unbeaten streak. Both teams knew that one of their streaks was going to come to an end and unfortunately for the Wildcats the Panthers were able to hold onto a 3-2 (24-30, 30-21, 30-25, 18-30, 10-15) victory to move their unbeaten streak to seven matches at home.

VU was led on the day by senior Alona Cherkez and sophomore Chelsea Graman who each recorded double-doubles. Cherkez had a game-high 23 kills and 10 digs along with three service aces. Graman pitched in 54 assists and 10 digs as well.

Senior Kacy Sellers had 16 kills while hitting at a .400 clip. Junior Dana Tartazky continued her strong week as she had 15 kills and eight digs.

Sophomore Amy Gulyas led the team in digs with 22.

Pitt came out and took game one by a score of 30-24 before the Wildcats stormed back in game two with a 30-21 victory. They would take a 2-1 lead with a 30-25 game three score but came out cold in game four dropping it 30-18. Following such a low scoring fourth game the Wildcats couldn't get back on track as they lost the match on the fifth and deciding game 15-10.
