Final Stats

Villanova, PA - The Villanova Wildcats paid a visit on another member of the Big 5 on Wednesday evening, traveling to La Salle to take on the Explorers. The Wildcats were able to come away with a 3-1 win to extend their current winning streak to four games.

Alona Cherkez and Amy Gulyas each recorded 14 kills, and a career-high .433 hitting percentage, for the Wildcats while senior, and current BIG EAST player of the week, Adrian Semrau added 11 kills.

Gulyas also led the Brown chipped in with 11 digs and Kaela Frizzell added 10 digs for the Villanova.

In game one, Villanova jumped all over the Explorers in route to a 30-20 win. Game two would be a much different story, as Villanova would record a hitting percentage of .000 and still win the game 31-29. In game three, the Explorers would pull it out in the end with a narrow 31-29 win. However, the Wildcats reverted back to their first game form and recorded the 30-21 win in game four to close out the match.

For the match, Villanova hit .180 as a team while La Salle was only able to hit .076. The Wildcats also recorded 23 more kills than the Explorers and won the block category 11-7.

On Saturday, the Wildcats will begin BIG EAST Conference play with a match against DePaul starting at 2 PM. Then on Sunday they will take on pre-season favorite Notre Dame at 2 PM. Both matches will be played at Jake Nevin Field House.

NOTES Senior Middle Blocker Adrian Semrau is just 9 kills shy of 1,000 for her Villanova career.
