Final Stats

Villanova, PA - Although the hitting percentage was not as good as it was in their first two games, the Villanova volleyball team was still able to down the University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers in three games, 30-21, 30-24 and 30-26.

Adrian Semrau and Alona Cherkez were the top attackers for the Wildcats, recording 21 and 11 kills, respectively. Semrau also added four blocks while Cherkez added seven digs and two blocks.

Semrau was named MVP of the tournament, while teammates Kacy Sellers and Jenna Link were also named to the All-Tournament team. Link led the Wildcats with 28 assists against UMBC. Although Sellers did not have her best game against UMBC, she was a leader in kills for the 'Cats in their opening match against Holy Cross and played a solid game against Sacred Heart earlier on Saturday.

Amy Gulyas and Emily Brown were strong defensively for the Wildcats, as Gulyas logged 17 digs while Brown added 12.

In the third game, the Wildcats were trailing 23-16 to the Retrievers, but would outscore UMBC 14-3 to close out the third and final game.

The Wildcats will play at La Salle on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
