Wildcats blanked by Rockets
Sept. 9, 2006 Villanova, PA - In their final road tournament of the early season, the Wildcat volleyball team was unable to solve the Toledo Rockets, falling 3-0 to conclude the Kentucky Classic. In the first game, Toledo came out with a 30-21 win and followed that up with a narrow 31-29 decision in the second game. The third game would also go in the Rockets' favor, 30-26. Adrian Semrau led Villanova with 13 kills while Alona Cherkez added 11 to pace the offense. Amy Gulyas led the defense with 12 digs, while Kacy Sellers chipped in with 7 blocks. Sellers would be named to the All-Tournament team for he efforts throughout the tournament. With the loss, Villanova falls to 1-8 on the season and will look forward to hosting their own tournament next weekend at the Jake Nevin Field House on the Villanova campus. Toledo improves to 3-8 on the year with the win. The three other teams involved in the Villanova tournament next weekend include Sacred Heart, Holy Cross and Unviersity of Maryland-Baltimore County. The Wildcats first match will be Friday evening at 7:30 PM.
