Villanova Falls in First Match at Spartan Invitational

Villanova, PA - The Villanova volleyball team traveled to East Lansing, Michigan to participate in the Spartan Invitational along with the host Spartans, Eastern Michigan and Miami (Fla.). In their first match on Friday, the Wildcats were defeated by the host Spartans in three games, to lower VU's record to 0-4 on the young season, while Michigan State remains unbeaten at 5-0. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Alona Cherkez and Adrian Semrau, who each recorded 12 kills. Cherkez would contribute nine digs as well. Jenna Link added 23 assists and Emily Brown added 10 digs in the losing effort. The Spartans also out-hit Villanova, recording a .400 hitting percentage to Villanova's .182. Villanova will continue play in the Spartan Invitational with two matches on Saturday. In the morning, they will take on Miami (Fla.) at 11 A.M. and then face Eastern Michigan at 4 P.M.
