Villanova Volleyball Takes on the Georgetown Hoyas to put 2014 on the books
The Wildcats will take on the Georgetown Hoyas for the final match of the 2014 season on Sunday, November 23 at 2 p.m.
After an exciting weekend in the Jake Nevin, Coach Steinbach and his squad will work to end the season on a high note
Despite the three-set loss to Marquette, the Wildcats can be proud of effort at last home match of 2014 season.
2014: Saw action in 108 sets across 33 matches with 24 starts ... Posted 209 kills on 631 attempts with 88 errors for an attack percentage of .192 ... Averaged 1.94 kills/set ... Tallied a career high five service aces against Georgetown ... Recorded 66 blocks on the season, the second highest of the team for the season ... Led the team in service aces with 21 ... Other stats include three assists and 53 digs.
2013: Earned the BIG EAST Honor Roll (Sept. 16) after helping the Wildcats earn three consecutive victories in a week ... Named to the Maryland Invitational All-Tournament team (Sept. 13-14) ... Appeared in 27 matches and played 99 sets as a freshman ... Led the team with 82 total blocks and 0.83 blk/set ... Hit .279 with 203 total kills, good for third on the squad ... Averaged 2.05 kills/set, fourth best mark on the team ... Career highs include 20 kills, .478 attack pct. and 10 blocks ... Other stats include 48 digs and six aces.
Olympia High School: Earned three varsity letters for a team that won the 4A state championship her junior year (2011), while also finishing fourth in the state in 2012 and sixth in 2010 ... Named to the Seattle Times All-State team as a senior and was a two-time first team All-Narrows League selection as a junior and a senior ... Both of those years was also tabbed as an All-Area selection by the Tacoma News Tribune and The Olympian ... Graduated as the school record holder in five different categories, including most block assists in a single set (6) and for a match (10) ... Also holds the records for highest hitting percentage in a match (1.000, 9-for-9), season (.415) and career ... Played club volleyball for KJVBC (two years) and the Olympia Volleyball Club (four years).
Personal: Born 8/30/94 in Olympia, Wash. ... Only child of Paul and Beth Berendt ... Enjoys volunteering in the community along with reading and spending time with friends ... Chose Villanova for the combination of the school's academic rigors along with the athletic opportunities provided ... Has yet to declare a major.
