Coaching Record: The 2000 season marks Heather Hoehn's third season at the helm of Villanova Volleyball. Last year Villanova recorded a 9-21 as Hoehn integrated a core of young players into the foundation for future success. That followed a 12-16 mark in 1998, her first year on campus. Hoehn came to the Main Line from the University of Minnesota Morris, where she served as head volleyball and softball coach since 1996. At Minnesota Morris, Hoehn rebuilt the Division II volleyball program, tallying a 30-31 record during her two-year reign. In 1997, she led the team to a second place conference finish and received Northern Sun Intercollegiate Volleyball Coach-of-the-Year honors for her accomplishments. In addition to heading up the volleyball and softball programs at Minnesota Morris, Hoehn also served as head coach of the men's club volleyball team and was the interim head women's basketball coach for the 1997-98 season. During her one season coaching the women's basketball team, she led the Cougars to a .586 winning percentage and a second place conference finish. Before her tenure at Minnesota Morris, Hoehn was an assistant volleyball and softball coach at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio from 1994-96. Besides her coaching duties at Muskingum, she served as intramural director where she was responsible for the planning, implementation, organization and supervision of 12 intramural sports. While coaching at Muskingum, Hoehn also headed the 18-year old Central Ohio Volleyball Club Team. Throughout her coaching career, Hoehn has proven to be dedicated to her sports both on and off the court. In 1996, she served as chairperson of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Volleyball Conference. She is currently a member of both the American Volleyball Coaches Association and the National Fast pitch Coaches Association. Since coming to Villanova, Hoehn has directed the school's volleyball camp. In 1999 she coached the Synergy Volleyball club and presently serves as a consultant to that squad. At Muskingum College, she was instrumental in directing a volleyball camp designed to provide girls with the fundamentals and strategies of advanced volleyball. Hoehn also served as volleyball camp director at Minnesota Morris, and as an instructor in camps at both Ashland University and Bentley College. Besides her coaching abilities on the volleyball court, Hoehn has also developed her teaching abilities away from it. At Minnesota Morris, she served as an instructor of wellness and sports science beginning in 1996. Hoehn taught courses in first aid and CPR, life guarding, water safety instruction, fitness for life, coaching volleyball, coaching softball, volleyball skills and softball skills. Before moving to Minnesota, she was also an assistant teacher at Muskingum College for courses such as concepts of wellness, life guarding and water safety instruction. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pa., Hoehn is a 1994 graduate of Bucknell University. At Bucknell, she received her bachelor's degree in education, in addition to being a three-sport athlete. As a member of the Bison athletic programs, she earned all-conference and league academic honors in both volleyball and softball. After graduating from Bucknell in 1994, Hoehn traveled to Muskingum College where she received her Master of Arts in Education in 1996, with concentrations in athletic administration and secondary education.
